I am a know it all and I don’t like to try new things…when it comes to myself. But the past year, my health taught me a lesson.
It’s not a secret that I am recently divorced and that entire process was less than enjoyable. It was stressful and it definitely took its toll on my body and mind, but I did a good job of making sure to prioritize self care. I did what I could.
About 10 months ago, I started to get dizzy spells, intense bouts of fatigue and my hair started to thin. I am hypoglycemic, but this was different. I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was going on, so I reached out to my primary care physician who ordered bloodwork, which didn’t show anything crazy; just some blood sugar issues which we already knew.
My doctor and I chalked it up to hormonal issues and stress, but I followed my gut and continued to pay attention to what my body was telling me.
I already track my cycles and use my Oura ring stats, but I started to track my symptoms, hoping to pinpoint triggers. I logged things like water, caffeine, foods that I ate that were out of the ordinary, anxiety levels and energy.
Do I have the answers? Nope.
Do I feel more informed and empowered? Absofuckinglutely.
What have I noticed?
This isn’t a blog offering you any answers or tips other than to PAY ATTENTION to what your body is telling you.
Your body is giving you the cues and clues….its up to you to put the pieces together.
I know this takes time and it’s inconvenient. I navigate this with my clients. Sometimes its just not feasible to write it all down or keep track of it, so we find a way that works for each person. The more information we have, the more I can help.
So if something isn’t feeling right, don’t give up. Just pay attention.
You are worth the time, the energy and effort.
I promise.
